HENDERSONVILLE — Ervin Luis Muniz, 79, of Hendersonville, N.C. passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at his home.
Luis was born in Puerto Rico in the town of Utuado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria Muniz, a brother, a sister and a grandchild.
He retired from the City of Hendersonville as an Assistant Horticulturist for the downtown area.
He enjoyed anything outdoors, taking care of animals, was a huge Carolina Sports fan “Go Tarheels”, was well loved by the community, was a member of and very active in Anchor Baptist Church where he enjoyed volunteering in the Food Assistance Program.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Lois Elizabeth Ritchey Muniz; two sons, Phillip Muniz and his wife Becky of Hendersonville and Jerry Muniz and his wife Laura of Brevard; six grandchildren, Jordan, Victoria, Jennings, Daniel, Elizabeth and Alena; 2 great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Isaac and many extended family still residing in Puerto Rico.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Anchor Baptist Church on New Hendersonville Highway in Pisgah Forest with Pastor Randy C. Barton officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the celebration in the church.
In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made in his name to Anchor Baptist Missions, 3232 New Hendersonville Highway, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
