HENDERSONVILLE — Michael Dale Dotson, 63, of Hendersonville, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, after a brief illness.
A native and life long resident of Henderson County, he was born on June 14, 1949.
A graduate of East Henderson High School, Mike went on to attend and graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1974. He was then commissioned as an officer in the United States Army where he served his country for the next five years.
Using the education he received from West Point he began working as an engineer, spending the last 15 years working for Deltec Homes of Asheville.
In Michael’s spare time he was an avid reader and enjoyed riding his Kawasaki Vulcan Motorcycle.
Family being of utmost importance in Mike’s heart and mind, he was a devoted husband and father and son. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Dotson; his two children, Victoria and Gregory Dotson, both of Hendersonville; his mother, Inez Dotson, of Hendersonville; his brother, Jerry Dotson and his wife, Norma, of Travelers Rest, S.C.; his sister, Diane Ward and her husband, Jim, of Hendersonville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Kelton Dotson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Thos. Shepherd’s Church Street Chapel with the Rev. Tim Worthington officiating. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henderson County Education Foundation, 65 Upper Red Oak Trail, Hendersonville, N.C. 28792 or to the American Cancer Society 120 Executive Park, Asheville, N.C. 28801.
