FLAT ROCK — Maude "Dusty" McDonald, daughter of Charles Greene Rodes, Jr. and Alice Maud Sears Rodes, and stepdaughter of Virginia K. Rodes, passed away Oct. 4, 2012, at the Elizabeth House after a long illness.
Dusty was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 1925, and lived there most of her life until moving to Hendersonville in 2003. After graduating from Stetson University, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack McDonald, on June 27, 1946. She then worked in the legal department at the Broward County Courthouse.
She was devoted to her family, her church, her friends and her Lord. She truly loved to help people, and all who knew Dusty were blessed by her genuine caring nature. She will be dearly missed by those she touched.
She is survived by Jack, her loving husband of 66 years, and her daughter, Becky Sparks and husband, Doug, all of Hendersonville. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Ryan (wife Leora), Heather (husband Jeremy), Ross (wife Claudia), and one great-granddaughter, Leilani.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at Hendersonville First Baptist Church (old chapel) located at 312 Fifth Avenue West. The Rev. Clell Coleman will officiate.
