HENDERSONVILLE — Vera Lanning Spicer King, 75, of Hendersonville passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Elizabeth House.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Birtteener Lanning and the wife of the late Boyd Spicer, James Spicer and Gene King. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Beulah, Frank, Douglas, Fred, Nellie Sue and Roger Dale; her children, Greg Spicer and Teresa Hailey; a granddaughter, Tabitha Spicer; and two great grandsons, Zeb and Zack. She worked as a nurse at Pardee Hospital, and she was of the Mormon faith.
Survivors include her son, Boyd Spicer of Asheville; five grandchildren, T.J. and Brandon Chastain of California; Joseph and Charity Spicer of Hendersonville; Chad Sharpe of Arden; and a number of nieces and nephews.
At her request, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
